‘The Hobbit’ Cast Brings You “The Most Epic Safety Video Ever Made,” and It Totally Is
Back in 2012, some of the cast members from the 'Hobbit' films appeared in an in-flight safety video for Air New Zealand titled "An Unexpected Safety Briefing," and to coincide with the upcoming sequel 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,' they've made a different kind of sequel: "The Most Epic Safety Video Ever Made." It is very epic indeed.
If only our in-flight safety videos in America were this creative and lively! If only we had in-flight safety videos in America! Elijah Wood and some of his fellow cast members from 'The Hobbit' star in this video for Air New Zealand, the place where Peter Jackson has spent many years filming both 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit' trilogies. Jackson himself even makes a cameo in the video, which is helmed by fellow New Zealander Taika Waititi, director of the upcoming comedy 'What We Do in the Shadows.'
Weta Workshop and Weta Digital provided all the special effects, make-up, and costumes for all those orcs and wizards and hobbits and elves in the video, just as they have for Jackson's films over the years.
'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' hits theaters on December 17. Oxygen masks not included.
