Still bewaring spoilers, Sunday's 'The Walking Dead' season 3 finale "Welcome to the Tombs" threw viewers quite the curveball, as the population of the prison suddenly skyrocketed rather than a bloody decrease as viewers were led to believe. We've already confirmed that the Governor (David Morrissey) will return to menace the survivors in season 4, but what new characters will enter the mix? Get your first look at a new series regular inside!

'The Walking Dead' threw us all for a loop the other night as Rick Grimes agreed to take in all the remaining Woodbury residents, rather than engage in another prolonged conflict with the Governor. And while the Governor will still return to threaten Rick in some capacity, the wealth of new survivors at the prison will mean plenty of new characters, some of which could be familiar to fans of the comic.

According to SpoilerTV, 'The Walking Dead' season 4 has already begun the casting search for a new series regular, that of a former Army medic named Roy Stark. The character is said to be plagued by his past before and after the zombie apocalypse, keeping to himself mostly, but maintaining a charming, confident and self-deprecating exterior. The casting notice calls for an actor in his 30s to 40s.

Fans of the comic may observe that a Woodbury resident named Bob Stookey (note the superficial name resemblance) played a minor role in patching up the Governor after Michonne's attack, having had limited experience as an Army medic in his youth, before descending into alcoholism. Given an Army history, the character of "Roy Stark" may also share some qualities with fan-favorite character Abraham Ford.

Naturally the AMC series could deviate from the books considerably, given how far the migration to the prison has already diverged from the comic stories, along with many other changes already inherent.

We'll keep an eye out (heh) as we begin the long road toward 'The Walking Dead' season 4, but what say you? Are you interested to see what the series does with such a unique change from the books? What characters would you like to see join up? Check out a sneak peek of season 4 below!
