The second season of Syfy’s 12 Monkeys has inverted both time and space enough that we can’t imagine where things might go in Season 3, but we won’t have to! Syfy has officially granted a Season 3 renewal to the fan-favorite time-travel adaptation keeping the Army of the 12 Monkeys alive in every possible sense.

Entertainment Weekly first reported the news, just two episodes from the end of 12 Monkeys Season 2. We can likely expect the third season to debut in 2017 (sadly, the show will be skipping Comic-Con this year), comprised of 10 episodes, as opposed to the 13 that Seasons 1 and 2 unfurled with.

Said NBC Universal of the cheer-worthy renewal:

This season of 12 Monkeys has proven to be a breakthrough. From its epic storytelling to its grand aesthetic, Terry and the cast and crew have invested boundless energy and passion, and it showed. New legions of fans will discover what devoted viewers already know: It’s one of the best shows on television.

Time will only tell how Season 2 concludes, particularly the Army of the 12 Monkeys’ bid to destroy Time itself, but rest assured, the time-bending struggle will rage anew in 2017. Check out the latest preview below, in the meantime.
