2013 Oscars Posters: Best Picture Nominees Get a Makeover
Artist Olly Moss was asked by the Academy to create the official poster for the 2013 Oscars, and he sure has created a beauty. Better still, he also created some gorgeous, unique one-sheets inspired by this year's Best Picture nominees. Get a glimpse of them all after the break.
Designed in collaboration with the LA-based art gallery Gallery1988, Moss' poster features 85 Oscar statuettes, each one distinctly inspired by a past Best Picture winner. If you're an Oscar aficionado, you'll enjoy studying each one to see which film it represents.
Also commissioned were nine screen prints inspired by this year’s Best Picture nominees, which The Academy and Gallery1988 commissioned from a small group of young international artists. Previously art collections from Gallery1988 have included "Fringe Benefits," which featured artwork inspired by fan-favorite episodes of 'Fringe.'
These posters, dubbed "For Your Consideration," will not be available for purchase, though you should keep tabs with Gallery1988's Facebook and Twitter, as they'll be holding giveaways. Still they're awesome to look at. Check them out below, in addition to Moss' official 2013 Oscars poster.
The 85th annual Academy Awards will air on February 24th at 7p.m. ET.
