Now that Jack Bauer's big return '24: Live Another Day' has been set in stone for 2014, fans of the long-running Kiefer Sutherland series patiently await news of what returning franchise players will pop up in the unexpected revival. Where earlier we heard Mary Lynn Rajskub's Chloe remained a likely candidate for a reappearance, '24: Live Another Day' has cast its first major returning player in writer/executive producer David Fury. Get the latest on '24's return inside!

After years of waiting, Kiefer Sutherland's grand return as agent Jack Bauer of '24: Live Another Day' has finally begun to take shape. Via Deadline, we've learned that series executive producer and writer David Fury has officially signed on for the 12-episode revival. Fury, a veteran of 'Fringe,' 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'LOST,' wrote for the final four seasons of '24' and helped achieve its best drama Emmy.

“We are huge fans of David at this studio and are thrilled to welcome him back,” said 20th Century Fox TV chairman Dana Walden. “Howard Gordon has a shortlist of writers whom he relies on enormously, and David is one of them. He was hugely important to 24 over the course of its run, and bringing him back for Live Another Day was quite frankly a no-brainer.”

Fury joins Kiefer Sutherland and series creator / current 'Homeland' showrunner Howard Gordon as the first to officially sign on for '24: Live Another Day,' but what say you? Is Jack Bauer's 2014 return finally taking shape? Where would you like to see the character pick up in '24: Live Another Day?'
