She may have drifted quietly along, but by golly, 'Hell On Wheels' has kept chugging along.  Several weeks after fininishing out its second, mildly-rated season, AMC has announced that it will bring the Anson Mount-fronted western series back for a third season, to be aired at an unknown date.  But with the murky airdate, what's changed about the number of episodes for the third season?  Does 'Hell On Wheels' have less track ahead of it?

It might be 'Hell On Wheels' for Cullen Bohannon, but it's smooth sailing for AMC as the network has announced that it will continue its trans-continental railroad drama for another ten episodes.  The series' second season wrapped up only a few short weeks ago with "Blood Moon Rising," bringing in about 2.4 million viewers overall for the year.

For those unfamiliar with the series, 'Hell On Wheels' stars Anson Mount as former Confederate soldier Cullen Bohannon, a widower helping to build the transcontinental railroad and avenge the death of his wife.  The series also stars Colm Meaney, Christopher Heyerdahl, Common, and Dominique McElligott.

What say you?  Do you think 'Hell On Wheels' deserved a third season?  What did you make of the second?  Give us your reaction in the comments!
