The CW Teases ‘Arrow,’ ‘The Flash’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ With Epic New Trailer
The CW’s big Comic-Con panel doesn’t get started until tomorrow evening, but they’ve already gone ahead and released a super-sized trailer that manages to tease Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. While the film side of DC comics seemingly stumbles around in the dark, this trailer is so full of confidence that it feels ready to burst at any moment. Who would have thought three TV shows starring B-level superheroes could look this epic and engender so much love from geeks and norms alike?
The trailer stylishly incorporates live-action images into into illustrations, embedding the TV version of these characters into illustrated scenes and often putting them right alongside their comic book counterparts. While so many movies and shows try to run and hide from their uber-geek origins, these shows are embracing it in the most literal way possible. The trailer is unashamed of how heightened and crazy these shows have gotten, taking us from the low-key beginnings of Arrow to the spirited adventure of The Flash to, well, whatever Legends of Tomorrow is going to be.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Flash Season 2:
Following the defeat of Barry Allen’s arch-nemesis Eobard Thawne (aka Reverse Flash), Team Flash quickly turned their attention to the singularity swirling high above Central City, which fans last saw consuming everything in its path. Armed with the heart of a hero and the ability to move at super speeds, Barry charged into the eye of the singularity, but will he actually be able to save his city from impending doom?
And now, the plot of Arrow Season 4:
After defeating his most formidable foe to date and riding off into the sunset with longtime flame Felicity Smoak, Oliver Queen (a.k.a. The Arrow) left Starling City with the hopes of beginning a new life. But will Oliver ever truly be able to leave behind his past as the Arrow, and, if so, what becomes of the team he has worked so hard to assemble? Will Diggle, Thea, and Laurel be left to continue Oliver’s crusade without him? And with Malcolm Merlyn having ascended to the top of the League of Assassins as the new Ra’s al Ghul, is anyone really safe?
And finally, the synopsis of the high-concept Legends of Tomorrow:
When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?
The Flash will dash back onto your television on October 6, 2015. Arrow will return on October 7, 2015. Legends of Tomorrow’s midseason debut will be revealed soon.
