'The Avengers' might have been the biggest movie of 2013 (and one of the biggest movies of all-time) but Jeremy Renner is already hoping for more from 'The Avengers 2.' The actor, who's out promoting 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters,' admits he was disappointed with his role in the first 'Avengers' movie and is hoping for more out of 'Avengers 2.'

Renner was speaking to MTV about 'Hansel & Gretel' (consider us surprised that he's even doing promotion for that movie) and, of course, the question of 'The Avengers' came up.

Back in August, Renner was outspoken about his involvement in the film saying:

I think [Hawkeye] is already an interesting enough character. To really kind of take away who that character is and just have him be this sort of robot, essentially, and have him be this minion for evil that Loki uses? Again, I could just focus on the task. I was limited, you know what I mean?

Of 'The Avengers 2,' Renner said that he hoped he, Joss Whedon and Marvel would be able to "meet in the middle" regarding a vision for Hawkeye in the sequel. For what it's worth, he holds no ill will towards Whedon:

It's what he was able to do with the first one. Now, there's more opportunities to explore the characters a little more, I think, for everybody. I think that's exciting.

Renner says he hasn't given Whedon any specific notes, concerned he would just "screw things all up," but one thing seems to be clear: Jeremy Renner wants a little more action when 'Avengers 2' rolls film. What do you think? Do you think Hawkeye got short shrift in 'The Avengers?' What would you like to see him do in the sequel?
