Part of the fun of watching a new Marvel film is figuring out how one movie connects to another in the Cinematic Universe, whether it’s a tiny Easter egg or the descendent of a character from another film. Like the recent ‘Ant-Man’ prequel comic, which revealed how Agent Carter fits into that movie, Marvel has released the official prequel comic for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ revealing how Loki is involved in the upcoming sequel.

Marvel released the digital comic online this week, serving to connect ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ with ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ and our favorite MCU villain, Loki. ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron Prelude’ is one of Marvel’s “Infinite” comics, which are created specifically to be released digitally first and feature some digital-specific transitions for readers.

The new comic shows us what happened to Loki’s scepter after the battle of New York in the first ‘Avengers’ film, and how the scepter plays an integral role in the powers of Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. This concept of “activating” specific people with certain objects was recently introduced in ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ serving to further connect the MCU with Marvel’s TV series. In addition, the new comic features Hydra villain Baron Von Strucker, as well as scenes from ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ including the post-credits tag which introduced Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron Prelude - This Scepter’d Isle’ is currently available for digital purchase.

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ hits theaters on May 1.
