It’s now become common for actors entering Marvel’s Cinematic Universe to sign multi-film contracts, and now that Paul Bettany’s role is expanding from vocal to physical, we’ve been curious to know if we’d be seeing Vision in more films beyond ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron.’ According to Bettany himself, that’s a totally fair assumption, and ‘Age of Ultron’ won’t be last we see of his mysterious new character.

In an interview with Australian news site news.com.au (via Comic Book Movie), Bettany opened up about Vision while promoting his latest film (and latest Johnny Depp flop), ‘Mortdecai.’ As it turns out, ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ may just be an introduction to the character:

That’s the really great thing about the Marvel gig for me.  I have never known if I have had a job six months out ever in my life.  And now I know that they have plans and I can be even more judicious about the stuff that I do outside of that work.  I can wait for the right thing and feel really attached to it.

Aside from the exciting possibility of getting to see more Vision in future MCU films, Bettany brings up a great point: the actors who sign multi-film contracts with Marvel Studios know that they definitely have jobs for the next several years, which allows them to become more discerning about the film roles they choose in between (except for maybe ‘Mortdecai,’ which we’ll try and forget). Just look at Scarlett Johansson, who’s used her time in between MCU movies to basically become the reigning queen of science-fiction films.

There’s still some things we don’t know about Bettany’s Vision and his part in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron,’ though Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Ruffalo clued us in to his origins when we visited the set a while back, and there have been some spoilers floating around online. Even still, Vision is one of the more intriguing new MCU characters, and we can’t wait to see him introduced in ‘Age of Ultron.’

‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ hits theaters on May 1.
