Will ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Not Actually Be Called ‘Batman vs. Superman’?

Batman vs Superman

While Warner Bros. never confirmed it, most everyone has assumed the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie will be called ‘Batman vs. Superman‘ because, well, duh. But, now comes a report that Warner Bros. has purchased a few related domain names, which indicates the studio is ditching the ‘Batman vs. Superman’ title for something more ‘Man of Steel’ friendly.

Because, ‘Batman vs. Superman’ (or, whatever they’re calling it these days) is technically ‘Man of Steel 2,’ it seems that Warner Bros. is at least entertaining the idea of sticking with a ‘Man of Steel’-centric title. Fusible is reporting that they recently scooped up URLs for the following movie titles, which indicate the direction they seem to be heading in:

Man of Steel: Battle the Knight
Man of Steel: Beyond Darkness
Man of Steel: Black of Knight
Man of Steel: Darkness Falls
Man of Steel: Knight Falls
Man of Steel: Shadow of the Night
Man of Steel: The Blackest Hour
Man of Steel: The Darkness Within

Now, just because Warner Bros. bought these URLs doesn’t necessarily mean that’s what the film will be titled, but domain purchases have been a pretty solid indicator in past instances (it was our first hint that Fox was planning ‘Days of Future Past’ as their ‘X-Men’ sequel).

It honestly just feels like they might be overthinking this. Yes, this movie is technically ‘Man of Steel 2,’ but c’mon, we all know this movie is really ‘Batman vs. Superman’ and that’s what everyone is going to call it anyway; why not embrace it? It doesn’t help that the above titles are incredibly lame and boring. It’s like they put a bunch of horrible movie titles in a blender and this is what they came up with. (Has ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ taught us nothing?)

What do you think? Would you be disappointed if this film was titled ‘Man of Steel: Battle the Knight’ instead of ‘Batman vs. Superman’?
