It looks like Morris Chestnut might have jumped the gun, 'cause Marvel's reportedly got another name in mind for their upcoming 'Black Panther' film: '42' star Chadwick Boseman.

According to Latino Review, who has an amazing track record when it comes to Marvel scoops, the studio has currently placed one actor's name at the top of their list to play 'Black Panther' in the upcoming film. Previously, actor Morris Chestnut tweeted and posted on Facebook that he was reading some 'Black Panther' comics for an upcoming role -- but those posts quickly vanished, and as Latino Review speculates, that's likely because someone at Marvel wasn't too happy with Chestnut.

Now comes word that Chestnut isn't the guy we should be paying attention to -- Marvel has their eye on newcomer Chadwick Boseman, who recently played Jackie Robinson in '42.' Boseman showed off some serious acting chops in that film, and apparently it was enough to make Marvel take notice. No deal has been offered as of yet, but Marvel definitely has Boseman in mind. So what does this mean? Well, if he's at the top of a list, that indicates that there are other names in the running, and Boseman would still need to meet with studio executives and see if he's the right fit for the part.

Don't get your hopes up just yet, comic fans -- this merely means that the 'Black Panther' casting journey has begun, and we look forward to reporting again when there's something more substantial.
