'Captain America' Short Film: Hayley Atwell Talks Peggy Carter's ReturnEric Walkuski |
Anyone who saw 'Captain America: The First Avenger' was no doubt taken with Hayley Atwell as Steve Rogers' no-nonsense lady love, Peggy Carter. While the character has been severely scaled down in the sequel, 'The Winter Soldier,' it's heartening to know that we've got more Peggy to look forward to when she gets her own spinoff short film!
Atwell recently revealed some details regarding the short, including when and where we might get a look at it. Jump after the break to find out!
In an interview with Big Issue (via Coming Soon), Atwell spoke about what's in store for the Peggy Carter "One Shot" short. Here are a few choice (and no doubt beautiful-sounding) words:
Fans of the first film really wanted to find out what happened to Peggy afterwards, so Marvel are also making a short film, which is basically ‘What Peggy Did Next,' which will be shown at Comic-Con [the annual international pop culture convention held in San Diego] and be on the DVD extras of the second film. So as well as doing a bit in the new film, I’ve got a whole new spinoff short film. It has been great to be back in training with the stunt co-ordinators, kicking some butt again.”
We had heard most of this before, but it's nice to hear Atwell put her stamp of confirmation on it. As 'Captain America 2' comes out theatrically in April of next year, it's likely that its home video release would be sometime in July '14, but hopefully we won't have to wait that long to get a full look at Peggy in action.
As an aside, it's also revealed in the interview that Atwell didn't even know about one particular 'Captain America 2' co-star, Robert Redford. (She'll be forgiven, as she's only going to appear in a handful of scenes.)
Is Robert Redford in it? Really? Well, there you go, that shows how much I know! But now you have told me, and because I love him, I am going to call up the Marvel family, find out when he is filming, then I’ll go down to the set to stalk him. That is my privilege! Thanks for the tip.”
That Redford fellow is a lucky man...
