You'd think that her commitment to the ninth (and final?) season of 'How I Met Your Mother' would get in the way, but it looks like 'Avengers' star Cobie Smulders may be joining the cast of ABC and Marvel's new series 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' That is, if the pilot goes to series. But c'mon: how could it not?

Although her interview with IAmRogue is predominately about her returning as S.H.I.E.L.D agent Maria Hill in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' (brief summary: she can't say anything or Marvel will kill her in her sleep), she let it slip that her character may also be heading for the small screen. When asked about the possibility of appearing on the Joss Whedon spearheaded 'S.H.I.E.L.D' series, she had this to say:

"The commitments to ['How I Met Your Mother'] don’t affect it...and I can’t really say but there are definite talks about it… I will do Maria Hill until they fire me and hire someone else to do it."

That makes an almost absurd amount of sense. Like Clark Gregg's seemingly deceased Agent Phil Coulson, Smulders is a familiar face in the Marvel movie universe and would go a long way to building a bridge between the show and the films (especially if she continues to appear in both of them). Not to mention, there's no way Samuel L. Jackson is going to be a regular on a TV show and 'S.H.I.E.L.D' is going to need some kind of authority figure, so why not Maria Hill? Heck, Smulders is a proven TV star at this point, so she's a perfect fit!

What do you think?
