On the occasions in which Comedy Central puts someone outside the realm of comedy to roast, as most recently with comedienne Roseanne Barr, we always hope they deserve it. Thankfully, this year will hold true as the cable network has seated 'This Is the End' star and "Academy Award-nominated actor-director-writer-producer-artist" James Franco on the throne as its latest roastee.

The 'Comedy Central Roast of James Franco' will take place in LA sometime in August, airing on Labor Day ahead of the premiere of the Franco-directed documentary “Francophrenia," because of course it will.

"If only James Franco was a more successful, multi-hyphenated, incessant creative risk taker in different media, he'd be the perfect person to roast. Oh well ... I suppose we'll just have to make do,” said Kent Alterman, president of content development & original programming at Comedy Central. "I've dreamed about this Roast for as long as I can remember," said Franco.

Franco himself (who may or may not join the 'Veronica Mars' movie as well) announced the news himself over Instagram, giving his usual chipper reaction in delivering his excitement for the matter. You can check out Franco's video announcement here, and tell us in the comments if you'll tune in for the Sep. 2 premiere of the 'Comedy Central Roast of James Franco'!
