Comic-Con 2014: Marvel’s ‘Agent Carter’ Gets Some ‘Captain America’ Directors

Marvel Agent Carter TV Series
Marvel

One of the shows we’re looking forward to most is Marvel’s new ‘Agent Carter‘ series, based on the character from the ‘Captain America‘ films. At the Marvel TV panel this evening at Comic-Con 2014, the studio revealed that ‘Agent Carter’ will definitely have some familiar help behind the scenes as ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier‘ directors Joe and Anthony Russo will direct two episodes, while Marvel co-president Louis D’Esposito will handle the pilot.

We’ll have a full breakdown on the Marvel TV panel for you shortly, but this news was too good not to share: Marvel has tapped ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo to helm episodes two and three of the first season of ‘Agent Carter,’ which should help keep things in line with the Marvel movie universe. Marvel co-president Louis D’Esposito will direct the pilot episode, and they’re working on finalizing a deal with ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ director Joe Johnston to direct the fourth episode, if his schedule allows.

The show will take place in 1946, following the events of ‘Captain America: The First Avenger,’ as Peggy Carter is left in a world without Steve Rogers following World War II. Hayley Atwell will reprise her role as Agent Peggy Carter, one of the founding members of S.H.I.E.L.D. As for whether or not we’ll see Dominic Cooper’s Howard Stark make an appearance, Marvel says they would love “if that could happen.”

‘Agent Carter’ will premiere in the fall during the ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ mid-season break. We’ll have more on ‘Agent Carter’ and ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ from the Marvel television panel at Comic-Con 2014 shortly.
