The low-maintenance production of Curb Your Enthusiasm offered hope that Larry David’s ninth season wouldn’t take too long to assemble, and things are looking good for 2017. HBO bosses believe Curb Season 9 will start shooting as early as this fall, while Larry David works out the potential returning cast.

Amid a laundry list of other updates, HBO boss Casey Bloys delivered some Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9 tidbits from the ongoing TCA press tour panel, notably that they were still working out some key details with Larry David. For the moment at least, the Seinfeld creator is said to be preparing his shoot:

I think possibly [it will shoot] this fall and will air sometime in ’17. That could slide but he’s definitely gearing up for it. I would imagine, my hope is most of the cast [will return], but we don’t have any of those details worked out yet.

Where series star Cheryl Hines previously expressed the likelihood of her return, the plan remains to work around the schedules of Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman and J.B. Smoove (who first telegraphed a Curb return was imminent). Additionally of Season 9, we know Jeff Schaffer will take a leading executive producer role in the new run between fellow alum David Mandel (Veep) and Alec Berg (Silicon Valley).

Schaffer and Larry David have already moved into a “practical” phase of planning Season 9, aiming for a full ten episodes, but when in 2017 should we hope for?
