‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special 2013: New “Time of the Doctor” Photos and Details
Now that the ‘Doctor Who‘ 50th Anniversary special “The Day of the Doctor” has come and gone, we’ve little to look forward to in 2013 beside the upcoming Christmas special “The Time of the Doctor,” and our big goodbye to series star Matt Smith. The upcoming regeneration has more than a few fans confused however, so check out the latest from the special from showrunner Steven Moffat himself, along with a collection of new ‘Doctor Who’ photos!
While the latest photos from ‘Doctor Who”s Christmas special tease a few previously unseen elements, among them Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor waving around a Dalek eyestalk at a group of the techno-baddies, an apparently wooden incarnation of the Cybermen, and ‘Fringe‘ star Orla Bradley as Tasha Lem. Additionally, it seems that 13th Doctor confusion will prominently play into the storyline, as Steven Moffat tells Radio Times that the Doctor in fact used up his regenerations:
We’ll find out that Matt Smith is actually the 13th Doctor. Although everyone knows that the Doctor can only regenerate 12 times.
The 12 regenerations limit is a central part of Doctor Who mythology – science fiction is all about rules, you can’t just casually break them.
So if the Doctor can never change again, what’s Peter Capaldi doing in the Christmas Special?”
We’ve included the latest photos from Matt Smith’s final adventure as ‘Doctor Who’ below, as well as a BBC holiday trailer above, so check out “The Time of the Doctor” and give us your predictions for Peter Capaldi’s arrival in the comments!
