The BBC's longrunning 'Doctor Who' will land in a brand-new era on August 23 with the official season 8 premiere of Peter Capaldi's tenure as The Doctor, but very little else looks to have changed. The network has revealed a brand-new trailer for the season premiere "Deep Breath," and if dinosaurs and the Paternoster gang don't get your 'Who' fandom in motion, there's always robot Victorians and nightshirts!

However brief, the latest 'Doctor Who' season 8 trailer boasts some impressive visual effects as a giant Tyrannosaurus terrorizes London, and Clara reenlists Madame Vastra and her cohorts for the effort. The new look at "Deep Breath" also provides more actual footage than the full season trailer, even if Peter Capaldi spends most of the time in a nightgown, and getting to know his new companion.

Here's The BBC's synopsis for the Ben Wheatley-directed premiere:

The Doctor has regenerated and now Clara has to deal with the fact that her best friend appears to have changed completely… Meanwhile the newly regenerated Time Lord must face a terrifying monster as the Twelfth Doctor’s era begins in dramatic style!

Elsewhere, we've heard at least a few rumblings that former series star Matt Smith could make a special appearance in the premiere, though producers are keeping tight-lipped. Samuel Anderson will guest in the new season as mysterious new companion Danny Pink, while Keeley Hawes will portray the villainous Ms. Delphox, in an episode written by ‘Sherlock”s Steve Thompson and directed by Douglas Mackinnon. Ben Miller will portray yet another villain, Hermione Norris has also been given a mysterious role, and 'Green Wing' actress Michelle Gomez will play "The Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere."
