‘Planet of the Apes” Dr. Zira + “Tanning Mom” Patricia Krentcil – Dead Ringers?

'Planet of the Apes' Dr. Zira, Patricia Krentcil
20th Century Fox/MSNBC

Patricia Krentcil made national headlines a while back for first allegedly bringing her 5-year-old daughter to one of her many tanning salon visits, secondly for Kristen Wiig’s spot-on impersonation of her on ‘SNL,’ and thirdly for verbally attacking Snooki and the paparazzi. Now we’re bringing this (literally) hot mess back because we finally realize where we recognize her from.

Didn’t Krentcil star in the original ‘Planet of the Apes’ movie as Dr. Zira? Oh wait, that was actually Kim Hunter, but you can see how easy it is to mix up these two. The main difference between them is that while Hunter had to lather herself with makeup to look like her character, all this seemingly tanorexic mom had to do was hop in a tanning bed.

Maybe that’s the real origin of how all the apes came to rule the planet — they’re actually just humans who got a little too much sun. It all makes sense.
