Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to get stoked for the 'Dredd' -- that is, if you weren't stoked already. We've got the official poster and two new images from the film that are rather... arresting. (Please, hold your applause until the end.)

The poster and images come courtesy of our friends at JoBlo, and while they don't show off too much, that poster is pretty sleek, promising a confident, different take on the source material.

Based on the British comic book character, 'Dredd' is about a future where uniformed judges have the power to cite, arrest, prosecute, and even execute, removing the need for traditionally structured law enforcement.

A movie based on the story was released in 1995 starring Sylvester Stallone as the titular Judge Dredd, a judge convicted a crime he didn't commit. The film was very much a product of its time, with corny dialogue, ridiculous costumes, and absurd action.

We're hoping for something a little more advanced this time around, as Karl Urban dons the suit to take down a gang dealing drugs that alter the fabric of the user's reality. 'Dredd' co-stars Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey and is directed by Pete Travis ('Vantage Point').
