'Wreck-It Ralph' this theaters this past weekend and, excuse us for saying, "wrecked" the box office, beating out 'Flight' with Denzel Washington and 'Argo' with Ben Affleck. The animation paired with the loveable characters played by John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman contributed to the movie's success, no doubt, but one has to wonder if the numbers would have been comparable if the earlier concept art was selected over the final product.

As we've learned from the early movie concept art designs of 'Shrek,' 'Toy Story' and 'Star Wars,' and even the ones scrapped for the upcoming 'Jurassic Park 4,' the artist's initial conception of movie characters -- especially the animated ones -- rarely make it to the big screen. With 'Wreck-It Ralph,' for instance, our hero started out with more similarities to a character from 'Monsters Inc.' In fact, numerous versions of Ralph were developed before the final tough-looking softie made the cut, as pointed out by Hollywood.com Editor Matt Patches.

Check out the early movie concept art for 'Wreck-It Ralph' below, including the evolution of Ralph and an early version of Sarah Silverman's Vanellope von Schweetz character. What do you think? Are you a fan of the initial image or the one that made it to the screen?
