Whether you count yourself an 'Elementary' or 'Sherlock' fan, you had to admit that the CBS procedural managed to distinguish itself quite a bit from its spiritual predecessor, and with a much more accessible schedule. Case in point, the first photos from 'Elementary' season 2 premiere "Step Nine" have hit the web, featuring our first look at 'Amazing Spider-Man' star Rhys Ifans as Mycroft!

Also present within the literally explosive photos is Sean Pertwee as Sherlock's former mentor Gareth Lestrade, and Lucy Liu reprising the role of Joan Watson as the crime-solving duo head to London for help with an old case. From CBS official press description of September 26 'Elementary' season 2 premiere "Step Nine":

“Step Nine” – Holmes and Watson travel to London to help track down an old mentor and investigate an unsolved mystery. Meanwhile, Mycroft Holmes (Rhys Ifans), Sherlock’s estranged brother, reunites with Sherlock and reveals some secrets of his own, on the second season premiere of ELEMENTARY, Thursday, Sept. 26.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have this opportunity to see Sherlock’s old stomping grounds and take a closer look at a life that, until now, we’ve only been able to glimpse through the lens of his recovery,” said series creator Robert Dohert of the premiere. “By meeting old friends and revisiting prior cases, Watson will gain even more insight into Holmes. She’ll have to keep up with a Sherlock who is both more comfortable in his surroundings and even bolder in testing the limits of those around him.”
