'Falling Skies' Season 3: New Set Photos Reveal...What?

It'll be a long stretch yet until summer 2013 before we see any new episodes of 'Falling Skies,' but with production in Vancouver underway plenty of goodies have leaked to prying eyes. Season 2 finale "A More Perfect Union" left us with a number of unanswered questions as well, but none moreso than some recent set photos, which feature our favorite characters looking wholly different than we remember. What's going on in these latest shots from 'Falling Skies' season 3?

Fans of 'Falling Skies' well know that the journey of Tom Mason and the 2nd Massachusetts lies not only in defeating their alien invaders, Skitters and Overlords alike, but also in rebuilding society as it once was. The 2nd Mass. came precariously close to achieving that dream in Charleston last year, but do the latest photos suggest that the war has finally been won?

Cryptic new photos from the Vancouver set (courtesy of YVRShoots) seem entirely too good to be true, highlighting Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) sans his usual beard and scruff, while Captain Weaver seems to have fallen from grace as a homeless man outside a serene coffee shop scene at Christmas time. The 'Falling Skies' cast and crew have long specified their intent to avoid flashbacks, so what might we be seeing?

Well, according to sources, the scene is meant as a dream sequence, but for whom? And might the dream's origin be somewhat more sinister than we realize, considering the way we've seen aliens mess with human minds?

What say you? Will 'Falling Skies' season 3 mark a major turning point in the war? What do you think the new alien race will bring? Check out the photos below and click over to YVRShoots for the rest. Give us your theories for the new season in the comments!
