'Falling Skies' had itself a banner weekend recently, going into Comic-Con 2013 already assured of a fourth season on TNT, and airing one of its more unique and better-received episodes of the series in "Strange Brew." That good fortune continues today, as we've learned that TNT intends to expand the 'Falling Skies' season 4 episode order, up from 10 episodes!

The news comes to us from Entertainment Weekly, adding that 'Falling Skies' season 4 will film twelve episodes for 2014, two more than each season to date has delivered. As previously reported, 'Falling Skies' season 4 will be the first under former 'Battlestar Galactica' producer David Eick, following the departure of current showrunner Remi Aubuchon.

Having averaged 5.8 million viewers across the third season, and emerging as basic cable’s #1 scripted series with adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, ‘Falling Skies’ will return in its usual summer airing slot for 2014. Meanwhile, series star Noah Wyle teased of the remaining two episodes of the season:

We tie up a lot of storylines this season. All the plotlines that are laid down get answered: we now know who the mole is, we’re going to find that out and deal with that, we’ve got this Espheni grid that’s irradiating the Earth and a ticking clock on taking it out, we’re going to take it out, and we’ve got this evil Overlord in the body of a 22-year-old surfer chick that we need to deal with. So all of that stuff gets wrapped up in the last two episodes.

Well, what say you? Are you excited to have a bigger season of 'Falling Skies' next year? Where do you want to series go in the final two episodes of the season, starting with this Sunday's "Journey to Xibalba?"
