‘Falling Skies’ Season 5: TNT Renews for Final Episodes in 2015
TNT alien actioner ‘Falling Skies‘ underwent something of a makeover going into its fourth season, with David Eick tapped as the new showrunner, while a story shakeup divided the cast. Now, it seems the Noah Wyle alien drama’s changes were in fact a chrysalis, as TNT has renewed the series for a fifth, and decidedly final season to air in 2015. Plus, what other TNT series have been renewed?
Per TNT, ‘Falling Skies’ will air its fifth and final season across 10 episodes next summer, while the expanded fourth season continues airing on Sunday nights. Additionally, The cable network has renewed its apocalyptic naval drama ‘The Last Ship‘ for an expanded 13-episode order next summer, also ordering 15 episodes of ‘Major Crimes’ for season 4.
Says TNT president Michael Wright of the renewals and ‘Falling Skies’ inevitable end:
TNT’s refreshed and recharged drama brand is soaring this summer, and that is due in large part to these three enormously popular dramas. The Last Ship has become this summer’s top drama among key adult demos with its epic scale and visceral storytelling. Major Crimes continues to be one of the most enduring and popular crime-drama franchises on television. And Falling Skies has begun an ambitious and thrilling story arc this summer as it sets the stage for next year’s climactic final season.
‘Falling Skies’ will also have a presence at Comic-Con 2014, wherein we’ll likely learn more of the current season as well as how it might figure into a final in 2015, but what say you? Are you surprised to see ‘Falling Skies’ wrapping up its alien invasion with a final season next year? What have you made of ‘The Last Ship’ in its debut?
