Just hours after being officially ordered to series, FOX's Batman prequel drama 'Gotham' has delivered its first official trailer, reintroducing Dark Knight fans to young incarnations of James Gordon and Bruce Wayne, along with such Bat-figures as Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman and even Poison Ivy. See how Batman begins anew with the first trailer for 'Gotham' right now!

"However dark and scary the world might be right now, there will be light," a young James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) tells Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) after the murder of his parents by a masked figure. The first look at FOX's 'Gotham' delves deep into Dark Knight mythology to bring us first looks a Robin Taylor's Penguin, Cory Michael Smith's Edward Nygma, Camren Bicondova's Selina Kyle and even a young Poison Ivy. It's hard to get a bead on the series just yet, though we imagine by fall 'Gotham' will feel more tonally in line with the Batman stories we know.

FOX’s ‘Gotham’ will explore “the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and the villains that made Gotham famous,” with its pilot featuring Gordon’s investigation of the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne. The pilot will also be written and executive produced by Bruno Heller (‘The Mentalist’), along with Warner Bros. Television, and directed by ‘Judge Dredd’ helmer Danny Cannon. It has been confirmed that ‘Gotham’ will not have any direct ties to Ben Affleck‘s take on the Dark Knight for ‘Man of Steel’ follow-up film ‘Batman vs. Superman‘ or The CW’s ‘Arrow‘ series.

Elsewhere, we’ve already seen first official looks at Robin Taylor’s Oswald Cobblepot, Sean Pertwee’s Alfred Pennyworth, Camren Bicondova’s Selina Kyle and Donal Logue’s Detective Harvey Bullock. Jada Pinkett Smith’s Fish Mooney also puts in a brief appearance in the trailer, while we've also seen some iconic murders pop up on set. We also know the show will feature Drew Powell as Mooney’s other associate Butch Gilzean, ‘Burn Notice‘ star Zabryna Guevara as Gordon’s GCPD boss Captain Essen, and Erin Richards as Gordon’s fiancée Barbara Kean.

Initially a shorter version was released, which we've also included below for comparison's sake. But what are you waiting for? Get a first look at FOX's 'Gotham' above, and tell us in the comments what you make of FOX's Bat-drama.
