It's criminal that 'Game of Thrones' high production value means that we only get ten episodes a year as opposed to HBO's usual twelve.  And as much of the budget was likely spent on last week's epic battle of "Blackwater," wouldn't you petition King Joffrey for just a few more minutes of sweet 'Game of Thrones' action before the season 3 break?  You're in luck!

In anticipation of the 'Game of Thrones season 2 finale "Valar Morghulis," HBO has opted to grant an additional ten minutes to the episode.  'Game of Thrones' episodes usually clock in at about 55 minutes, but this Sunday's coming finale has an official run-time of 64 minutes.  Be sure to adjust your DVRs!

It remains to be seen where, or to what the additional minutes will be added, as the episode deals with the fallout of last week's siege of "Blackwater."  Those who have kept up with the second season know that 'Game of Thrones' has quite a bit to presumably wrap up before the 10-month break, including Daenerys' quest to retrieve her dragons from the "House of the Undying," Jon Snow's position now that he's been captured by the Wildlings, and Theon Greyjoy's occupation of Winterfell. From the episode's official press release:

Theon stirs his men to action, and Luwin offers some final advice. Brienne silences Jaime, Arya receives a gift from Jaqen, Dany goes to a strange place, and Jon proves himself to Qhorin.

Seasons 3 and 4 of Game of Thrones will likely feel somewhat less cramped, each tackling one half of George R.R. Martin's third 'A Song of Ice and Fire' novel 'A Storm of Swords.'  But, we wouldn't mind an additional ten minutes here or there either!

Be careful with your DVR, and be sure to check out the incredible 'Game of Thrones' season 2 finale "Valar Morghulis" this Sunday night at 9 on HBO!
