‘Game of Thrones’ Season 5: Another of Daenerys’ Crew Upped to Series Regular
'Game of Thrones' gave fans a bit of a surprise in revealing that Ed Skrein wouldn't reprise his memorable role as Daario Naharis for the fourth season, before 'Treme' star Michiel Huisman eventually stepped up to fill the part and ascended to series regular. Now yet another character from Daenerys Targaryen's (Emilia Clarke) side has been upped to series regular in season 5, suggesting a strong emphasis on Daenerys to come.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Dany's season 3 companion Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel) will enter the likely (but not official) fifth season of HBO's George R.R. Martin fantasy drama as a series regular. Having been introduced last year to a cast that already includes 29 series regulars, this year Missandei is described as “a former slave with a gift for languages who becomes Daenerys’ confidant and trusted adviser.” Given the ascensions on Dany's side, it's not hard to imagine she'll have more to do in the fifth season than this year, perhaps.
While we’re still poring over the gallery of ‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 photos, HBO has cast in known roles Joel Fry as Hizdahr zo Loraq, Roger Ashton-Griffiths as Mace Tyrell, Pedro Pascal as Prince Oberyn Martell, Indira Varma as Oberyn’s lover Ellaria Sand, Yuri Kolokolnikov as Styr, Magnar of Thenn, and ‘Sherlock’ star Mark Gatiss as Tycho Nestoris. ‘Treme”s Michiel Huisman will replace Ed Skrein as Daario Naharis, and Hafthor Julius Bjornsson will take over the role of Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane from Ian Whyte, among other recastings.
Don't forget, we'll also have 'Game of Thrones Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing' to help preview the April 6 premiere this Sunday.
