The late time of year leaves our Sunday nights a bit more TV sparse than usual, though with most eyes on 'Homeland''s heartbreaking season 3 finale "The Star" last night, HBO didn't miss out on an opportunity to preview its future; included among the new footage for 2014, our first look at 'Game of Thrones' season 4!

Though we can only spot a few frames of the new 'Game of Thrones' season among all the other footage (the likes of which also includes our first looks at Damon Lindelof's 'The Leftovers' and Mike Judge's 'Silicon Valley'), we saw what appeared to be everyone's favorite imp in chains, as well as Joffrey looking as menacing as ever. Might the two events be intertwined, we wonder?

While we wait for ‘Game of Thrones’ season 4, HBO has cast in known roles Joel Fry as Hizdahr zo LoraqRoger Ashton-Griffiths as Mace TyrellPedro Pascal as Prince Oberyn Martell, Indira Varma as Oberyn’s lover Ellaria Sand, Yuri Kolokolnikov as Styr, Magnar of Thenn, and ‘Sherlock’ star Mark Gatiss as Tycho Nestoris. ‘Treme”s Michiel Huisman will replace Ed Skrein as Daario Naharis, and Hafthor Julius Bjornsson will take over the role of Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane from Ian Whyte, among other recastings.

You can check out the first brief look at 'Game of Thrones' season 4 in the footage above (new footage starts around the 1:35 mark), and give us your predictions before the latest premiere in spring 2014!
