A year of great TV has nearly come to a close, and if you’re anything like us, the only 2015 event worthy of anticipation will be the ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 premiere this spring. Thankfully, the long wait will prove somewhat less dreary, as HBO has scheduled a new preview special for February, as Anthrax and more join the newest “Catch the Throne” mixtape for the fantasy-drama.

Per HBO’s official scheduling, the network will air ‘Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life’ on Sunday, February 8 at 7:30 P.M. The name doesn’t reveal exactly what we’ll see of new or past ‘Game of Thrones’ seasons, but like last year, we’d expect at least some worthwhile “sight” of new season 5 footage.

As if that weren’t exciting enough metal band Anthrax has revealed their presence on the official ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 mixtape, alongside the likes of Killswitch Engage. Speaking to Metal Hammer, Anthrax frontman Scott Ian has previously said of the series:

All of you out there who watch Game of Thrones, much like me, probably think it’s a very metal TV show. And just know: the reason for that is that one of the creators [Dan Weiss] is a huge metalhead.

While we wait for ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 (already renewed for 6, with the cast signed through 7), we know of both returning, confirmed absent, and a multitude of other new characters cast, including those that confirm we’ll be visiting the oft-mentioned kingdom of Dorne, for which Spain will double. As expected, the story will draw heavily from George R.R. Martin‘s fourth and fifth novels, ‘A Feast for Crows’ and ‘A Dance with Dragons,’ while HBO has also provided a list of directors, as well as insight into which literary stories may not make the transition to film.

We’ll likely see our first extended sneak peek and photos sometime in the new year, but what say you? Does ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 have you primed for a February “Day in the Life?” What about the season 5 metal mixtape? Check out the HBO 2015 trailer below, and give us your predictions for the newest episodes in the comments!
