Game of Thrones will take more precaution than ever with the secrecy of its final episodes; apparently even from actors. If you believe star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the Game of Thrones cast won’t even receive Season 8 scripts before filming the actual scenes.

Keep in mind that Coster-Waldau has a history of downplaying the extraordinary measures in place to prevent leaks, but the actor has now offered one of the most absurd claims yet. Gone are the days of digital scripts and two-step email verification, as Coster-Waldau apparently told Scandinavian talk show Skavlan (h/t Winter Is Coming) that actors won’t be allowed scripts at all:

And then the hack happened, so now we’re not even going to get the script. Now we are going to do a scene, we will be told what’s going to happen and then we roll … We’re all going to have earpieces for the scene, and then someone’s going to tell you the line and then you’re going to do the line.

There’s no immediate indication Coster-Waldau is joking (the clip ends before anyone can react), but there are at least a few caveats here. Star Liam Cunningham already mentioned an imminent table-read, and previously told IGN he’d been given heavily-secured copies of all six scripts. Not to mention, there’s no way actors would go before cameras without some knowledge of their dialogue and direction, even if physical scripts weren’t allowed on-set.

It’s equally possible Coster-Waldau is participating in some deliberate confusion, as the actor previously cast doubt on reports production would film multiple endings to combat leaks. Game of Thrones stands a better chance of surviving Season 8 unspoiled if no one knows for certain how intense security really is.

We’ll see if the advent of Season 8 production brings any clarification, so stay tuned for the latest on Game of Thrones.
