Cory and Topanga are back!  'Boy Meets World' fans were stunned earlier this month to learn that The Disney Channel had begun development of a sequel series to be titled 'Girl Meets World,' and now the original stars have taken it one step closer to reality.  Centering on Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence's young daughter Riley, the series has officially picked up original stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel to reprise their roles, but how far along is production?  Will we be tuning in for 'Girl Meets World' any time soon?

Cory and Topanga (who thankfully became a couple long before portmanteaus like "Brangelina" were a thing) fans, your day has come.  TVLine reports that 'Boy Meets World' stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have officially signed on to reprise their roles as Cory and Topanga for The Disney Channel's upcoming sequel spin-off, 'Girl Meets World!'

As previously reported, 'Girl Meets World' would pick up some 13 years after the end of ABC's 'Boy Meets World,' with Cory and Topanga raising their young daughter Riley.  Cory himself is said to have followed in the footsteps of Mr. Feeny to become Riley's history teacher, while no details have been offered of Topanga's future.

Fishel and Savage are the first to officially sign on to the series, overseen by 'Boy Meets World' creator and executive producer Michael Jacobs, while a nationwide casting search has begun for Riley, and her Shawn Hunter-esque friend Maya.  Several 'Boy Meets World' alum have expressed interest in the project, though nothing has been made official just yet.

What say you?  Are you happy to have Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel back as Cory and Topanga?  Will you tune in for 'Girl Meets World?'
