For as experimental as 'Glee' season 4 proved in adding New York storylines and new characters on either side of the FOX musical drama, fans of the series knew certain stars would fall by the wayside eventually. Now, in advance of season 5, we've learned that original series stars Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Mark Salling and Harry Shum Jr. will not return as series regulars, but will it prove the end of Brittany, Mercedes, Puck and Mike?

The news comes from TVLine, who reveals that the four may still put in guest spots over the course of the fifth season, as with the somewhat infrequent appearances this past year. Heather Morris in particular had already been eyed for a smaller role, considering the actress' real-life pregnancy. The others have since graduated the show's fictional McKinley High, and would require an increasingly labored cliché to keep around.

Series star Dianna Agron will also appear far less in the coming season, beyond a possible guest spot now and again. For those not keeping track, FOX renewed 'Glee' for impressive seasons 5 and 6 this past May, though it remains to be seen how creator Ryan Murphy will continue to focus the series between its multiple locations.

Well, what say you? Will you be disappointed to see Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Mark Salling and Harry Shum Jr. appearing in reduced roles for 'Glee' season 5? Where would you like to see the series go from here?
