Here's the thing about Peter Quill, AKA Star-Lord, the hero at the center of Marvel's upcoming 'Guardians of the Galaxy': he has a really, really cool helmet. The sad truth is that he'll probably spend most of the film not wearing it so actor Chris Pratt can show off his handsome and newly-chiseled mug. Anyway, that's just our long-winded way of saying "They've released two new images of Chris Pratt in costume and he looks really cool!"

The images, which can you check out below (and click on to embiggen), originated over the film's Facebook page.

Star-Lord's movie costume is far more casual and than his comic book get-up, but it seems to fit Pratt's take on the character like a glove. After all, he's not a traditional superhero, but a selfish small-time crook with an inflated opinion of himself. Of course he's going to wear a leather jacket instead of a militaristic uniform!

Although Pratt is ostensibly the lead in 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' much of the focus so far has been on Bradley Cooper's Rocket Raccoon and Vin Diesel's Groot, the two members of the team who had to be created entirely out of pixels. As exited as we are to see those two weirdos make it to the big screen, we're just as excited to see Pratt make the jump from TV goofball to full-fledged leading man. If 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is going to work (and we certainly hope it will), it's all going to come down to Pratt's ability to pull a Robert Downey Jr. and elevate a B-level hero into an unlikely star. The awesome costume is a great starting point.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' blasts into theaters on August 1, 2014.
