While we wait patiently for more sneak peeks at Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' the always reliable Vin Diesel has taken to his awesome Facebook page with a little somethin' somethin' for anxious fans to help make the wait go by a little easier. In a new pic posted this afternoon, the star poses with his alter ego from the film, the superhero Groot, and we gotta say, this would make a pretty adorable greeting card.

We still haven't gotten an official trailer, but rest assured: director James Gunn is hard at work filming 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' and we're sure to get all kinds of goodies in the coming months. Until then, keep an eye out for cool stuff like this awesome photo, courtesy of Vin Diesel, who loves to post behind-the-scenes shots and fun pics for fans on his Facebook page from the movies he's working on. Today, the star posted this photo of himself alongside a replica of Groot, his hero character from 'Guardians':

UPDATE: Marvel Studios officially announced Diesel is indeed voicing the tree-like alien Groot in 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' The studio refrained from releasing any confirmation of the fact for some time, leading some to believe the actor's role to play was much larger -- Thanos-level large -- though, those rumors have been squashed. Wrote James Gunn of the casting, "Yep it is completely official. AND he's amazing. I never knew someone could say I AM GROOT so many different ways and with such feeling (and that sounds like I'm kidding but I'm not!)."

The film also stars Chris Pratt as Starlord, the main protagonist, and Zoe Saldana, Benicio Del Toro, Glenn Close, Bradley Cooper (as the voice of Rocket Raccoon), Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, and Karen Gillan, and hits theaters on August 1, 2014.
