'Hannibal,' the television adaptation of Thomas Harris's 'Red Dragon novel, has definitely loaded its cast with interesting actors. Mads Mikkelsen will be playing the bad Doctor Lecter, Hugh Dancy is Will Graham, Laurence Fishburne is Jack Crawford, and now Scott Thompson has joined up as a member of Crawford's CSI unit.

This comes from The Hollywood Reporter, and you may know Thompson from the sketch comedy show 'Kids in the Hall,' where he had many memorable characters like Buddy Cole and the Queen of England. He also played Larry Sanders's assistant on 'The Larry Sanders Show.' But where many comedy shows and troupes have a number of breakout stars (like John Cleese, or John Belushi), the stars of 'Kids' have mostly spent their time doing bit parts in big Hollywood movies. Dave Foley went the highest with his lead role on 'News Radio' and with his voice work in the Pixar film 'A Bug's Life.' The group have reunited a number of times over the years after their show ended in 1994, and made the movie 'Brain Candy' in 1996, which bombed theatrically, but has since developed a cult following (much like the show, which is on Netflix Instant).

Thompson will be playing Jimmy Price, a member of Jack Crawford's CSI team, which means it's very likely that his role, which THR says "specializes in fingerprinting and spatter patterns at crime scenes," will partly be as comic relief.
