Showtime's 'Homeland' has been chugging along in its fourth season sans Brody (well, almost), just as critics have continually raved about adultery drama 'The Affair,' and fans of either should have a bright and sunny 2015. Showtime has officially renewed Carrie Mathison and co. to return for a fifth season next year, continuing its illicit 'Affair' for a second season as well.

Per Showtime's official confirmation, 'Homeland' will return for another round of 12 episodes in 2015, compared to 'The Affair''s 10. The Emmy-winning counter-terrorism drama remains a reliable performer for the network, while 'The Affair' had somewhat struggled to find an audience at first, even with critical accolades for its stars Dominic West and Ruth Wilson.

Says Showtime of the pickups:

In its fourth season, Homeland has brilliantly reinvented itself. It continues to capture the attention of a devoted fan base, and has provided an enviable platform for the successful launch of The Affair. With thought-provoking, relevant and addictive storylines, both series have been embraced, dissected and much debated week after week. We’re excited to see more from these complex shows in 2015.

Both shows are likely to see their premises shifted even further next year, as 'Homeland' continually explores its new Islamabad setting and 'The Affair' circles around its core mystery crime, but what do you think? Are you excited to have 'Homeland' renewed for season 5, with 'The Affair' guaranteed another romp in 2015?
