The ninth and final season of 'How I Met Your Mother' has us a bit perplexed by its supposed plan to stretch Barney and Robin's wedding weekend over the course of an entire season, but today we learn that tricky format comes with at least one major perk. Wayne Brady will return as Barney's half-brother James Stinson, and stick around for a bit to boot!

Brady himself announced the return over Twitter, saying "Just got back from my 1st HIMYM fitting of the season! Can't wait to shoot on Wed! You may be seeing a little more "James" this season! Yes!" Understandably, if 'How I Met Your Mother' season 9 indeed keeps to its wedding weekend format, guest stars present for the nuptials would likely appear in more than one of the final season's 24 episodes.

Brady's character has recurred sporadically since the second season, last appearing in season 7 episode "The Rebound Girl," wherein James was revealed to have adopted a second child with his husband Tom. So far CBS and executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas have played the show's final year close to the chest, though we know that season 9 will take place largely across the 56-hour period leading up to Barney and Robin’s wedding, at which Ted finally meets his bride-to-be.

The network also revealed that all four regulars would meet the mother (herself a newly-minted regular) prior to Ted, while individual episodes may cut back and forth through time as necessary to tell the complete story. Production will begin this week on season 9 premiere episode "The Locket."

We’ll get more details the ninth and final season from Comic-Con 2013, but in the meantime what say you? What past stars do you hope to see return next season? Give us your 'HIMYM' finale wishlist in the comments!
