Though he's been wonderful in a lot of action movies, it's been a while since anyone asked Jason Statham to do much acting. One of the few B-movie stars whose movies don't go straight to video, and sort of the British Bruce Willis, Statham is usually stuck playing the cool professional, which makes his latest film 'Hummingbird' look slightly more interesting.

Granted, we like watching Statham get into fights, but there's precious little action in this trailer for 'Hummingbird.' It also comes from writer-director Steven Knight, who previously wrote 'Dirty Pretty Things' and 'Eastern Promises,' so it has a slightly more classy pedigree. Do we expect Jason Statham to punch people and things at some point in the film? Yes we do. But the movie is probably about more than that.

Currently the film is scheduled to open mid-may in the U.K., but though Lionsgate will release it stateside, no American release date has been set.

Here's the film's synopsis:

Living homeless after going on the run from a military court-martial, Joey Jones (Statham) is a damaged ex-special forces soldier trapped in London’s criminal underworld. But when opportunity enables him to assume another man’s identity, he is transformed into an avenging angel.

And here's that trailer. Expect 'Hummingbird' sometime later in 2013.
