‘Wild Card’ Trailer: Jason Statham Is a Bodyguard With a Dangerous Gambling Problem

EDIT

Hopefully ‘Wild Card’ is better than Jason Statham’s last outing, ‘Homefront.’ The new film is a remake of ‘Heat,’ the 1968 movie starring Burt Reynolds, and is based on a screenplay by Academy Award-winning writer William Goldman (‘All the President’s Men,’ ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’). Can Statham fill the awesome shoes of Reynolds? Not likely, but you can enjoy watching him try his hand in this new trailer.

It's been a few years since the release of Jason Statham's 'The Mechanic,' the remake of the 1972 film starring Charles Bronson, and now the action flick is getting a sequel and Statham is getting some fresh co-stars: Tommy Lee Jones, Jessica Alba, and Michelle Yeoh have joined the cast of 'Mechanic: Resurrection.' And although production has already begun, it'll be a while before you see this one -- 2016 to be exact.

New 'Expendables 3' Pics Show the Cast Having a Pretty Great Time

There's no way the set of 'The Expendables 3' wasn't a fascinating place to be. After all, you don't put personalities as varied and eclectic as Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Harrison Ford in one place without generating at least a few stories worth sharing. A new batch of images from the set of the upcoming action film makes us wish we could have been a fly on the wall for a few days. What exactly would Antonio Banderas and Wesley Snipes say to each other?

'The Expendables 3' Trailer: Stallone and the Gang Are Back For More

Call us suckers, but going by the new trailer for 'The Expendables 3,' we think this may be the one that finally gets it right. Both 'The Expendables' and 'The Expendables 2' were well-meaning but sloppy nostalgia exercises, but we're hoping that the third time is the charm and that this one will be a well-meaning and actually entertaining nostalgia exercise.

'The Expendables 3' Reveals 16 Truly Weird Character Posters

The 'Expendables' franchise has one thing going for it: nothing else can top it when it comes to the sheer number of interesting and noteworthy actors on screen. So it's not too surprising when 'The Expendables 3' drops 16 character posters on the same day because of course 'The Expendables 3' would have 16 characters important enough to warrant their own character posters.

'Homefront' Review

A successful Jason Statham film requires a limited amount of cinematic resources: a stunt budget, a cartoon villain, a script with peppered with goons to punch in the face, and a Jason Statham. Hire a director who has streamed at least three Statham action movies off Netflix to cobble together a thin plot and — boom! — entertainment.
Perhaps because Oscar-nominated screenwriter/painter Sylvester Stallone took on writing duties, Statham's latest film, 'Homefront,' dares to opt out of the formula in favor of a character-driven crime story. A novel idea, but unfortunately, this film is a bore. Like Stallone's own' Bullet to the Head,' 'Homefront' believes it's cut from the same cloth as Walter Hill's 'Southern Comfort,' but it can barely muster up the thrills of an episode of 'MacGuyver.'

You don't come by Jason Statham's house without paying the price! The action star takes the lead in Open Road's first 'Homefront' clip, which sees him going head-to-head with James Franco, playing a meth dealer and small-town red-neck thug named Gator. With a face that screams, "I mean business," you just know shit's about to hit the fan.

There are a lot of movies coming out this fall that you can get excited about. 'Thor 2,' 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' and 'Oldboy' among them. But, perhaps no movie holds our intense interest as much as 'Homefront' - the upcoming action movie written by Sylvester Stallone and starring Jason Statham and James Franco. There is no way we aren't going to love this movie and this exclusive 'Homefront' TV spot is further evidence of that.

2013 was the year of Melissa McCarthy's buddy movies, as both her 'Identity Thief' and 'The Heat' made well over a hundred million dollars at the box office. So far she's teamed up with Jason Bateman and Sandra Bullock, but for 'Susan Cooper' she may have someone tougher to play against: Jason Statham.

'Homefront' Red-Band Trailer: The Ultimate Battle Between Jason Statham and James Franco

We're not sure what excites us more about this new 'Homefront' trailer. Is it James Franco playing a lunatic meth dealer with a crazy Southern accent? Or is it the thought of his violent redneck character engaging in a life or death struggle with the eternally angry Jason Statham? In any case, 'Homefront' looks more like an '80s movie you'd find tucked away at a lonely mom and pop video store than a modern film production, which means we couldn't be more excited for it, whether it be good or bad.
