'Iron Man 4' Is a Possibility, According to Robert Downey Jr.Britt Hayes |
We've known for a little while that Marvel is taking a break from 'Iron Man' after three films with star Robert Downey Jr. And while they will likely make another 'Iron Man' in the future, it hasn't been clear if Downey Jr. would don the suit again. In a new interview, the actor and star of 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' hints that he's not quite ready to give it up.
On the set of 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' Entertainment Weekly sat down with Downey Jr. and asked him about the possibility of returning for 'Iron Man 4.' While his answer isn't very direct, it does offer some insight into his motivation (money):
It’s down to Kevin [Feige, Marvel Studios president] and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that’s on us to agree or disagree. When things are going great, there’s a lot of agreement.
He also added that he's not quite ready to give up the character:
It’s that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed? Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out.
For now, there's nothing official, but with Marvel Studios holding their panel in Hall H at Comic-Con 2014 this Saturday, we expect that we might learn more about the future of the 'Iron Man' films, especially since Marvel recently announced release dates for six untitled films through 2019. But, as Downey Jr. says, "The future is, as usual, uncertain."
