James Gunn Says No One Found That ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Easter Egg and He’ll Never Reveal What It Is
While the online criticism of Avengers: Age of Ultron scared Joss Whedon off Twitter, Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn still maintains a healthy social media presence, frequently interacting with fans and answering all matter of questions. As he preps Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in Atlanta, Gunn took to Twitter last night to answer all your pressing sequel questions, and revealed that there is a secret Guardians script that includes all the translations of what Groot is really saying that only he and Vin Diesel have, and that he’ll never tell you what or where that secret easter egg is.
First up, one fan asked Gunn, “Is there a translation of Groot’s speech, or do you just direct the general emoting?” We always assumed it was just a general emotion, but Gunn clarified, saying he has actually written a direct translation for what Groot is actually saying.
When asked if he, like Whedon, will depart the Marvel Cinematic Universe after two films, Gunn said he wasn’t sure yet if he wanted to return for Guardians of the Galaxy 3:
And, of course, people had a LOT of questions about that elusive Guardians of the Galaxy easter egg that no one has ever found.
Is there anyone out there that knows what it is?
Is he just trolling us?
Will he ever reveal what it is?
Geez, does he even want people to find it?
Just a reminder that if you have a question (that isn’t “Can I be in your movie?”) Gunn, despite all his success, is still nice enough to take time out to talk to all his fans.
Guardians of the Galaxy is expected to begin filming early next year for a May 5, 2017 release date.
