The CW's 'Melrose Place' actress Jessica Lucas moves herself away from the comfortable confines of dramatic television and walks right into the path of horror as The Hollywood Reporter states that she's looking to be part of the cast for the 'Evil Dead' remake. If she does sign up, she'll be nestled up in the cast alongside Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez and Lou Taylor Pucci. Ghost House Pictures and FilmDistrict are behind the project, set to be directed by Fede Alvarez, with Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert on board as producers.

As expected, the story line is pretty much the same as the original. A group of people find themselves in some isolated cabin in the woods where they uncover the Book of the Dead, a powerful tool that brings the deceased back to life. Filming on the 'Evil Dead' remake is expected to begin in April over at New Zealand.

If the name Jessica Lucas seems familiar, like it's been associated in the remake realm before, then you're right. The actress hasn't shied away from a previously existing piece of film or television yet, those examples being 'Melrose Place' and '90210.' It's not uncommon for a budding actor to latch onto some form of a remake. They don't always end up becoming a monster hit like the studios would want ('Fright Night') but sometimes audiences will surprise you and fall in love with it ('Star Trek').

The question is whether or not movie-goers will dig the 'Evil Dead' remake. Not only have we been bogged down with one zombie-filled horror movie after another, but there's still a fairly large fan base who shudders at the fact that Ash (played by Bruce Campbell) isn't in the movie. We'll just have to pray, wait, and see if this remake is worth watching.
