2008’s Jumper was too early for the YA craze, and too late for Hayden Christensen’s sci-fi career, so there’s little telling if TV can give the franchise another jolt. Get ready to dodge Paladins either way, as director Doug Liman is officially bringing sequel series Impulse to YouTube.

Per Deadline, YouTube subscription service YouTube Red has given an official series order to the new hour-long drama from Edge of Tomorrow director Liman; following the third novel in author Steven Gould’s Jumper series. The official Impulse debut is eyed for 2018, as written by LOST alum Jeffrey Lieber, Luke Cage scribe Jason Horwitch and Gary Spinelli, and directed by Liman.

Featuring Maddie Hasson as Henry, (likely representing “Cent,” daughter of Hayden Christensen’s character in the books), Impulse also stars Missi Pyle, Sarah Desjardins, Enuka Okuma, Craig Arnold and David James Elliott. So reads the synopsis:

Impulse features a rebellious 16-year-old girl who has always felt different from her peers and has longed to escape from her seemingly quaint small town. When a local drug dealer attempts to assault her, she discovers she has the extraordinary ability to teleport. This newfound power confirms her conviction that she really was different from everybody else, but it now makes her the focus of those who want to control her.

The 2008 film boasted an impressive cast, including Christensen, Samuel L. Jackson, Rachel Bilson, Diane Lane, Michael Rooker and more. You can check out the original trailer below, and stay tuned for more details on the YouTube Red version in 2018.
