The trailer premiere for the animated movie 'Justice League: Throne of Atlantis' has emerged, and with it comes our first look at the sequel to DC's 'Justice League: War.' Hey, it's no 'Batman vs. Superman' or the live-action 'Justice League' trailer, but Warner Bros. animation is certainly nothing to scoff at.

While 'Justice League: War' took its inspiration and storyline from the comic book by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, 'Justice League: Origins,' in seeing DC's mightiest heroes band together to fend off Darkseid and his winged minions, the post-credits stinger saw the Atlantian Orm, Aquaman's half-brother, emerging from the ocean's depths and angrily surveying the damage this violent encounter made to his home. Worth noting is how, in the 'Origins' comic, Aquaman was depicted as a founding member of the Justice League, while the animated movie replaced him with Shazam.

Now, after a semi-follow-up movie with 'Son of Batman,' 'Throne of Atlantis' sees how Aquaman came to be Aquaman, and the events that'll lead him to his impending showdown with Orm and Black Manta. The new trailer, which first premiered over at Newsarama, depicts Arthur Curry as the ruler of Atlantis' lost son, living on the surface with superhuman powers he doesn't understand. This is a nice primer for fans awaiting Jason Momoa's turn as the Atlantian superhero in 'Batman vs. Superman,' and will help reinforce director Zack Snyder's earlier comments defending the honor of this often overshadowed character.

While 'War' voice cast members Jason O’Mara (Batman), Christopher Gorham (The Flash), Sean Astin (Shazam) and Shemar Moore (Cyborg) all return for 'Throne of Atlantis,' Rosario Dawson replaces Michelle Monaghan as Wonder Woman, Jerry O’Connell replaces Alan Tudyk as Superman, and Nathan Fillion returns to voice Green Lantern, replacing Justin Kirk. Matt Lanter lends his voice to Aquaman, while Sam Witwer voices Orm and Sumalee Montano voices Mera.

'Justice League: Throne of Atlantis' will hit DVD and Blu-ray in the spring of 2015.
