A few weeks ago, we got a look at some of the concept art from Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel' and got a glimpse at many wild variations of Superman's iconic costume. Today, more art has emerged and this time, it's for Superman's nemesis in the film, General Zod. Like those varied Superman designs, the look of the evil Kryptionian general went through many different versions before settling on the final suit.

The only thing these designs have in common with each other (and with the final version) is that they are all heavy body armors with menacing-looking helmets. From there one out, they're about as varied as you can get, with some vaguely resembling medieval armor and others looking like something out of 'Pacific Rim.' You can check out the designs for yourself below, but our personal favorite is the final one, which looks like something the Emperor of the World would wear in a post-apocalyptic movie.

Ultimately, the production went with a costume that would better show off actor Michael Shannon (which is a great choice since he's so great in the role), but it's fun to look at these costumes and play the "What-If?" game. It's also fun to think about the hundreds of additional designs that are hidden away in a Warner Bros. vault right now, just begging to be picked over by fans.

'Man of Steel' is currently in theaters. Thanks to Movies.com for calling our attention to this art.
