NBC has yet to follow up on its surprise announcement that 'Heroes' would follow in the footsteps of '24: Live Another Day' with 2015 revival series 'Heroes Reborn,' but at last it seems we might have a bit of insight. The network will partner with creator Tim Kring for a prequel web series, 'Heroes Reborn: Digital Series,' easing us back into the 'Heroes' world in time for the proper return in 2015.
Via Entertainment Weekly, no details of the 'Heroes Reborn' web series have yet been made available, though we know it will join fan-following 'SNL' web series 'Saturday Night Line' as part of the network’s new original online video initiative. NBC will promote 'Heroes Reborn: Digital Series' across the company’s television networks before airing the shorts on digital platforms, like its channel websites, Hulu and video-on-demand.
Says NBC Digital Media EVP Robert Hayes of the initiative:
It’s exciting to bring original content to the forefront on all of our digital platforms. We are lucky to once again be in business with some of the top producers in Hollywood making new content to further engage fans.
Seeing as 'Heroes' previously dabbled in web series following largely original characters, we'd expect not all of the 'Digital Series' heroes to make it into the proper 'Heroes Reborn' in 2015, though we'll surely get a sense of what the 'Heroes' universe has undergone in the interim, and what could prove so pressing as to come back now.
Well, what say you? Will NBC's 'Heroes Reborn' web series pave the way for the big return in 2015? What would you like to see, and which characters should be present for the NBC superhero franchise's rebirth?
