Okay, so the bad news is there’s no new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer coming this weekend as part of the Disney hullabaloo known as D23. But the good news is there’s a bunch of new Star Wars stuff hitting the web today, starting with these brand-new images of the film, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. Maybe you can print them all out and turn them into a flip book and create your own trailer until Lucasfilm actually gives us one.

This new batch of images includes some intriguing teases of director J.J. Abrams’ mysterious new Star Wars adventure, including Daisy Ridley’s Rey freeing BB-8 from the net of a mysterious scavenger, who seems to be riding some kind of cross between a droid and an alien. There’s also a nice shot of C-3PO (Anthony Daniels) sporting a new red arm. The reasons why will remain locked in Mr. Abrams’ mystery box for now, but it’s yet another cool little element to ponder.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Abrams did explain why, given the enormous pressure and expectations surrounding Episode VII, he decided to sign on for the project. According to him, all it took was one simple question, posed to him by producer Kathleen Kennedy: Who is Luke Skywalker?

“Oh my God, I just got the chills,” Abrams remembers. “I mean, it really was almost that quickly.” With no finalized story at that point, it was up to Abrams and co-writer Lawrence Kasdan to find the answers. “It was, without a doubt, a formidable assignment,” Abrams told EW.

You getting chills yet yourself? And it’s only August! Star Wars: The Force Awakens doesn’t open until December 18.
