In a month filled with racing game announcements, EA was not going to be outdone by its competitors. The publisher revealed a teaser image from its first next generation Need for Speed entry, promising more info would arrive at E3 in a few weeks.

Though there's no telling what brand the next Need for Speed game will fall under just yet, the image might give us a few hints. The police model 2013 Koenigsegg Agera R looks sharp as ever rendered in some impressive fashion. If you notice, the side of the car is emblazoned with the word "pursuit." It's highly possible we could be in store for another edition of Hot Pursuit. Criterion previously delivered Most Wanted last year, and did develop a Hot Pursuit title back in 2010.

The Hot Pursuit entries have always been about cop chases, allowing users to play as the police in addition to the outlaw racers. This is a mode that has been specifically absent from other off-shoots of the franchise. There are just a few weeks left until E3, so we won't have to wait long to learn more about EA's plans, and whether or not Criterion is returning once more to the Hot Pursuit series on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
